The Premises Information Box™ (PIB®) is designed to provide fast access for the Fire & Rescue Service to building plans and information. For operational use, the PIB® was developed with firefighters to an exacting specification and is a recognised focal point in the event of an incident.
As per the examples below, they have been used extensively in the built environment (including hospitals, office blocks, student accommodations, museums, shopping centres, educational buildings, care homes, stadiums, airports and heritage houses to name a few).
… And are now a statutory requirement for High Rise Residential Buildings
The latest Building Regulations 2010 Approved Document B for fire safety (June 2022), effective 01.12.22 and Fire Safety (England) 2022 regulations effective 23.01.23 call for secure information boxes on new build HRRBs over 11m and existing HRRBs over 18m Information Boxes respectively.
And additionally the legislation highlights that ‘consideration should also be given to other buildings with large, complex or uncommon layouts where the provision of a secure information box may be beneficial’.
Therefore, a variety of premises in the built environment can benefit from PIB®s.
