Two decades on, the Premises Information Box (PIB®) sets the standard in fire safety and enhanced security — and here’s why…
At the heart of the PIB® is the patented innovative locking cylinder – enabling 98% of UK Fire & Rescue Services to access PIB®s directly using their GSP One Key System®—their own unique access system, which they already carry, providing seamless entry to all Gerda Emergency Access Systems. No need to issue additional keys – we’ve got that covered, facilitating operational response, whilst customers have their own bespoke keys for their own PIB® System/s.
The uniquely engineered locking cylinder offers an impressive 30 billion key combinations—far exceeding the EN 1303:2015 standard requirement of just 100,000. This extensive range provides customers with exceptional flexibility to tailor the accessibility of their Emergency Access Systems to suit the specific needs of each building.
Whether it’s PIB®s for different types of building stock be it High-Risk Buildings; Sheltered Housing or Specialist Assisted Housing; or dedicated master key systems for individual buildings – we’re here to provide the right solution, whatever your requirements.
Designed to keep confidential building information safe — while still being accessible to the FRS in an emergency.
The high security PIB® is certified according to the Certisecure scheme in line with STS202 standard, class BR2, and is in accordance with the FIA/NFCC Code of Practice requirements. The performance standards for secure information boxes are outlined in the Code of Practice, supported by Secured by Design, and offer proven resistance to forced entry, ensuring a secure and protected location for vital information required by the Fire & Rescue Service during an incident—while also ensuring it is not easily accessible to unauthorised individuals.
Let’s not confuse this with standard locks or cylinders anyone can buy online – Security Matters.
Under Regulation 4 of the Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022, SIBs must be secure and accessible. At Gerda Security Products, our Emergency Access Systems are intentionally secure for a reason.
Here’s to 20 years of PIB®, the original SIB: secure, reliable, and trusted when it matters most.
