Addenbrookes, part of the Cambridge University Hospitals, is steeped in medical history. Since 1719 it is famous for medical breakthroughs and remains a beacon of medical excellence nowadays.

As part of a 3-phase project, Enfield Speciality Doors was involved at all stages, in the refurbishment of treatment rooms, receptions, cross corridors and lobby areas.

The one hour fire doors offered a specialist laminate finish with oak lippings. The finishing of specialist laminates in crystal white helped to accentuate the state-of-the-art facilities, whilst offering a robust solution against everyday usage.

In this refurbishment, the fire doorset design centred around a one hour fire resistance and smoke controlled doorset for the isolation ward.

Glazing system offering high impact resistance with a cartridage replacement system.

The Premises Information Box™ (PIB) known as a SIB (secure information box), is designed to provide fast access for the Fire & Rescue Service to building plans and information. For operational use, the PIB® was developed with firefighters to an exacting specification and is a recognised focal point in the event of an incident.

The Latest Building Regulation 2010 Approved Document B for fire safety (June 2022), effective 01.12.22 and Fire Safety (England) 2022 regulations effective 23.01.23 call for secure information boxes on new build HRRBs over 11m and existing HRRBs over 18 m Information Boxes respectively.

The legislation highlights that consideration should also be given to other buildings with large, complex or uncommon layouts where the provision of secure information box may be beneficial.
