The Different Types of Premises Information Box
Gerda offers three distinct types of PIBs, each tailored to fulfil specific roles during emergencies, and boasting specific premises information box features to help them do so. The different types of Gerda PIB available are:
The ‘Standard’ Premises Information Box System

Gerda Premises Information Box Features of Note
In the realm of building safety and emergency response, the Gerda Premises Information Box (PIB) stands out for its remarkable features designed to enhance security and streamline access in critical situations. Let’s delve into the noteworthy features that make Gerda PIBs an indispensable asset for any building’s emergency preparedness plan.
Robust Construction
Whether facing harsh weather conditions or other threats such as unauthorised access attempts and/or vandalism, the solid build of Gerda PIBs guarantees the safety and security of the vital information housed within.
Certified Security
Gerda ‘High Security’ PIBs are not only constructed with precision but also undergo rigorous testing to meet the ‘STS 205 BR2’ burglary resistance standard. Additionally, the HSS PIB Cs are third party certified to this standard and annually audited. This ensures that unauthorised access attempts are met with robust resistance, providing peace of mind regarding the safety of sensitive documents within the PIB.
Use of Gerda’s ‘One Key’ System
The HSS PIB C and all other emergency access products have high security locking systems, offering a bespoke locking system/s to the building provider, whilst the Fire & Rescue Service gain access through their own One Key System (called the GSP One Key System). Making use of our innovative approach to emergency access, our PIBs strike a great balance between overall security, and accessibility when time is of the essence.
Anti-Tamper & Anti-Vandalism Measures
Gerda PIBs come equipped with advanced anti-tamper and anti-vandalism features. The locks incorporate anti-glue measures and an anti-drilling cylinder, effectively thwarting any attempts at unauthorised access. These measures not only deter potential vandals but also ensure the integrity of the information stored within the PIB.
High Visibility
Visibility is key in emergency situations, and Gerda PIBs are designed with this principle in mind. The bright red colouring of the boxes enhances visibility, making them easily identifiable even in challenging conditions. Clear identification lettering further adds to the visibility, and on some PIBs, photoluminescent markings provide increased recognition in low-light conditions, ensuring that emergency responders can locate and access the PIB swiftly.
Emergency Response Plans
Gerda Security provides a recognised high quality emergency response plans service. This is FIA/NFCC Code of Practice compliant. Providing bespoke premises plans and clear and relevant information in the format readily accessible to firefighters.
